HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
Hello,
I will write in English, since German is my 4th language and it is not on the level I am willing to write.
I have Froggit HP1000SE PRO for 2 months now. First month everything worked as planned, but after 1 month I am experiencing data/connectivity loses between data unit and outer sensor unit. You can see random data outages here on graph: https://www.awekas.at/en/instrument.php?id=24401
I have no idea what can cause this problem.
I am thinking about changing the batteries and/or bringing the sensor unit closer to "data unit", but the random pattern of loosing the connection does not indicate that batteries nor distance is a problem.
Help in every direction would be appreciated. Thank you.
Best regards
Matt

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
What's the outdoor array ? A WH65/WS69 or a WS80 or a WS68. (see our WiKi wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:wetterstationen:ecowitt-stationen).
In any case doing a reset of the outdoor array would be the first thing to do. See manual: need either a staple-end (WH65/WS69) or pressing a button for 5-10 seconds (WS80). That's the soft reset.
If it doesn't help, a hard reset might be needed:
- Remove batteries
- cover the solar panel tightly with black tape so no light can enter
- wait until the LED stops blinking and the sensor array stops providing data (can take 2-3 days !
)
- re-insert batteries
Good luck - if this doesn't help, come back again

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
Hello,
Thank you so much for detailed process description. I will sure try the procedure.
I am not completely sure, how to check the outer unit model ... in specification it says "HP1000SE PRO Y-shape Außeneinheit" and looks like this:
and I know it has reset pinhole micro button.
Since it is raining I did nothing to the station until now, however it appeared online again.. mysteriously.
I excluded power and WIFI outages, FW version is the last one available (1.8.5.), so the only issue can be between display and unit.
Will keep you posted on the progress.
BR

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
let's say the last available firmware is 1.8.6
- if you to read our WiKi closely
Download link:
https://osswww.ecowitt.net/uploads/2022 ... V1.8.6.zip
do you only tell the loss of data (gaps) by the AWEKAS pictures ?
If so, internet connection issues are not to be excluded !
Even if the local network is stable, such things can occur. This also happens quite often with Weather Underground and WeatherCloud.
Often then nearby stations of the same weather network also show gaps.
The outdoor array is an Ecowitt WH65 for which Froggit his different names; HP1000SE PRO Y-shape Außeneinheit or WH3000SE Ausseneinheit. Same thing.

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I did some diagnostics, and there was a problem with connectivity between outer sensor array and "data unit". I did a data unit reset (unplug from electrical), but the outer sensor did not reconnect to the unit. So I did sensor array soft reset. It worked.
Station works fine for second day now. I hope it stays this way.
Regarding the FW. Thank you for the link. I am only checking Froggit webpage for updates and there is V1.8.5 stated as a last one.
Only now I am getting the big picture about "looks the same, has a different label on it" weather station platform. So this is all Ecowitt stations, branded under different brands? Instead of looking at Froggit webpage, which page do you suggest as "more official" source of data such as FW versions etc?.
PS. unrelated question . Is there a way to connect directly to console IP address in order to see live data via browser? If I enter IP only it returns nothing (ping is OK).
Thank you again for support.

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
Ecowitt is usually the best source (not that Froggit is wrong but usually not so up-to-date)m3d_see4d hat geschrieben: ↑02 Okt 2022, 16:59

go to the product page, choose tab "Manual & Software"
we publish the release of new firmware regularly and fast after its appearance here in the forum and in wxforum.net
Not that easily, but you can get data in a rather "unstructured" way via the http-get call (you'll receive a .json file):PS. unrelated question . Is there a way to connect directly to console IP address in order to see live data via browser? If I enter IP only it returns nothing (ping is OK).
but it's a bit more complex than just calling a page. see also: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=43811.0
Otherwise better to get a real data logger program like CumulusMX, Meteobridge, weewx, Weather Display.

hello.
And we have connectivity issues again. Trying to get a pattern here... I will move sensor array closer to console.
Will report back.

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
The console is saving the data to internal memory - do they also show the gap ?
Only then you can suspect the outdoor array ...

Re: HP1000SE PRO loosing connection with "data display"
Hello,
Solution in this post.
Answering for the sake of closing this thread. I monitored the disconnection activity for 10 days and started noticing pattern. Connection lost at cca. 3-4 AM and until 11 AM which corresponds with heavy fog appearing in the Fall time. Outer sensor was positioned at the very distance limit, working fine at "ideal" conditions, but not when the fog started interfering.
I moved the outer sensor array to half the distance to display unit and now it works fine without any problems since.
BR.
